About the coronavirus
The coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China. This animal to human virus has drastically escalated in the past month to a human to human spread epidemic. Wuhan is currently in complete lock down - highways and public areas have all been shut down. As China has raised to a threat level of 4, airlines have begun to cancel flights to China and all US citizens have been advised to leave immediately.
There has been nearly 64,000 confirmed cases and over 1,300 dead
as of Feburary 14th, 12:45PM
Masks and other forms of virus-prevention are a desperate consumer demand; suppliers are running low:
"The face mask industry is booming amid concerns about the outbreak, leading one surgical mask manufacturer after another to run out of its stock of masks in China", CBS states.
Wearing a mask is a valid form for prevention of the virus. As the virus spreads through droplets in the air when an infected person sneezes, coughs, or talks, wearing a mask protects you from inhaling these droplets.
That is why Masks for Wuhan aims to supply 20,000RMB worth of masks and other needed supplies such as sterilizers and plasma disinfectors to the Jingzhou No. 1 People's hospital. One step at a time, we hope to alleviate this epidemic that directly affects us and our community.
